Spelling words for 4th grade: longer words that are built from parts, with prefixes such as re-, dis- and sub- and suffixes such as -tion, -less and -ment. Learning to split a word into its parts, spell each part and put them back together is the main spelling skill of this grade, and it makes long words far less daunting.
